Outdoor Electrical Installations
Garden lighting, outdoor sockets, hot tub supplies and garden office power — all weather-proofed to IP65 and installed by NAPIT-registered electricians.
Good outdoor electrics transform how you use your garden. Whether it’s a simple outside socket for the lawnmower, full lighting across the patio and decking, or a dedicated armoured supply to a hot tub or garden office, we install it all to the same high standard as the electrics inside your house.
Services We Offer Outdoors
- Outdoor sockets — IP66 weatherproof, with dedicated RCBO protection
- Garden lighting — LED spike lights, bollards, wall lights, deck lights, festoons
- Security lighting — PIR floodlights and dusk-to-dawn lanterns
- Hot tub supplies — SWA armoured cable and dedicated 16A or 32A circuit
- Garden office / summerhouse power — full sub-distribution with its own consumer unit, sockets and lighting
- Pond and water feature pumps — safe low-voltage transformers and weatherproof connections
- EV chargers in detached garages — see our EV charger page
Why Outdoor Work is Different
Outdoor electrics are unforgiving. Cheap fittings rust, non-UV cable goes brittle, and a dodgy joint that would be fine indoors becomes a shock risk the first time it rains. We only use weatherproof enclosures, properly rated IP65/IP66 fittings, UV-stable SWA or flex, and every outdoor circuit is protected by a 30mA RCD as required by BS 7671.
Certification
All notifiable outdoor work is registered with Building Control via NAPIT and certified to BS 7671:2018+A2:2022. You get a full Installation Certificate the same week.
Frequently Asked Questions
How long does a full house rewire take?
A typical 3-bedroom house takes 5-7 working days. Larger properties or those with complex layouts may take longer. We work methodically room by room to minimise disruption.
How do I know if my house needs rewiring?
Warning signs include old round-pin sockets, rubber or fabric-sheathed cables, a wooden back fuse box, frequent tripping, flickering lights, or if your home hasn’t been rewired in over 25 years. An EICR will confirm whether a rewire is needed.
Can I stay in my house during a rewire?
Yes, most customers stay in their home during a rewire. We work room by room and keep at least one circuit live at all times so you have power. There will be some dust and disruption but it’s manageable.
How much does a house rewire cost in Rotherham?
A full rewire depends on property size, number of circuits, and your specification. We provide detailed written quotes after a free survey. The quote covers everything including a new consumer unit, all wiring, sockets, switches, and an EICR certificate on completion.
Will a rewire damage my walls and ceilings?
Some channelling into walls is necessary to run new cables, and we may need to lift some floorboards. We keep disruption to a minimum and make good as we go. We don’t do plastering or decorating but can recommend trusted local tradespeople.
What’s Included in a Full Rewire
New consumer unit
Every rewire includes a brand-new consumer unit with RCD protection, dual RCD or RCBO configuration for maximum safety and convenience.
All new wiring throughout
We replace all fixed wiring with modern twin-and-earth cables, run through safe routes in walls, floors, and ceilings. All joints are made in accessible junction boxes.
New sockets and switches
All sockets, switches, and light fittings are replaced as part of a full rewire. You choose the style — we fit everything from standard white plastic to brushed chrome or anthracite finishes.
EICR certificate on completion
Once the rewire is complete, we carry out a full EICR test and issue a satisfactory certificate. We also register the work with NAPIT and your local Building Control office.
