Key Features of the Zappi

Three charging modes. The Zappi offers ECO, ECO+ and FAST modes. In ECO+ mode, the charger only uses surplus solar energy to charge your car — meaning zero cost charging when the sun is out. ECO mode uses a mix of solar and grid power. FAST mode draws full power from the grid for the quickest charge.

What Is Needed for a Zappi Installation?

Every Zappi installation we carry out in Rotherham starts with a survey of your existing electrical setup. The main things we check are your consumer unit, your main fuse rating, your meter tails, and the cable route from the board to where the charger will be mounted.

Most homes in South Yorkshire have a 60A or 80A main fuse. A 7kW Zappi draws 32A, so your supply needs to handle that alongside your normal household load. If your main fuse is 60A, we may need to apply to your distribution network operator for an upgrade — we handle all the paperwork for you.

Your consumer unit needs a spare way for the dedicated EV circuit. If your board is full or outdated, we may recommend a consumer unit upgrade at the same time. All EV circuits require 6mm twin and earth cable (or 10mm for longer runs) and a dedicated 40A RCBO for protection.
